The Old Cornstore

We fell in love with 3 The Old Cornstore from the moment we stepped inside and we knew it would make a wonderful holiday space.  We wanted to create a house that has all the comforts of home, plus the practical stuff you need for a self-catering break and the luxury of a boutique hotel.  When we go on holiday with our two young children we want good beds, high quality bed linen, a good dining space for family meals, Wi-Fi (so the kids can play Minecraft when they are worn out from surfing!) and a cosy burner and candles for long conversations over a bottle of wine when the children have collapsed into bed.  We instantly saw that The Old Cornstore could give us all of these things plus it is right in the centre of St. Agnes which is just a fantastic, unspoiled coastal village, busy and friendly all year round with the beach, lots of cafes and restaurants only a short walk away.

From the moment you enter the enclosed courtyard with its beach hut theme you will instantly feel on holiday!  The courtyard acts as a dining space and the trifold doors can be completely folded back on warm days.  It’s also equipped with a biofuel burner for when the nights turn cooler.   From there you step up into the high spec. kitchen fully equipped with everything you need and some things that are just nice to have (like a Nespresso coffee maker and an iPod speaker).  The under-floor heating means you can still be barefoot long after the flip flops are packed away for the winter!

Shower Room

The quirky circular shower room on the ground floor is the perfect place to wash off the sand after a day at the beach and the courtyard also acts as an ideal spot to hang your wetsuit and store your surfboard!  It’s also a useful place for buggies and bikes and other holiday paraphernalia!

Living Room

The living room is on the first floor and after a long day on the beach or sightseeing, it’s the perfect place to flop down on to the big corner sofa and relax with a glass of wine (or cider, it is Cornwall after all!).  There is a Smart TV with Freeview and Netflix in the living room and fast Wi-Fi throughout the house if you want (or need) to stay in touch with the outside world.

In the master bedroom on the first floor, the exposed stone walls and crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen make lie-ins and breakfast in bed all the more tempting.  The second bedroom on the second floor has 2 single beds and is more suited to young children as the ceiling slopes and the ceiling height is restricted (our kids have road tested it and given it the thumbs up!).  We can provide a travel cot, stairgate and high chair to lighten the packing load if you are travelling with a baby and we have plastic cups, cutlery and bowls for tiny toddlers.

The bathroom on the second floor is a perfect place to ease muscles sore from surfing or walking or just to pamper yourself and is stocked with Egyptian cotton towels.

Like many properties in St. Agnes there is no parking space with the house but you can usually park outside or further along the road.  There is also a free car park in the village.

St Agnes

The house is very close to the excellent Taphouse pub (our children’s favourite) and  No. 4 Peterville Bistro.  It is also a short walk to the beach at Trevaunance Cove although it is uphill on the way back!  All the more reason to stop for a fortifying cream tea or an ice cream at Genki on the way!

Cornish Treats on Arrival

We hope all our guests will enjoy staying at No. 3 The Old Cornstore and we will do our best to welcome you to our part of Cornwall.  We try to make sure you have some basic provisions and some nice Cornish treats to look forward to when you arrive but please let us know if there is something else you would like us to arrange for your visit – maybe a locally caught fresh lobster and a bottle of Camel Valley fizz, a box of Cornish pasties from the St. Agnes bakery or just some pouches of baby food!  We only live 10 minutes away so can be on hand if you have any problems or need any help or advice.
